Here at Silver Creek Dentistry, we like the idea of a New Year\u2019s resolution. And even though we\u2019re well into the month of January already, we think it\u2019s never too late to resolve to take care of your smile. One of the chief ways of doing that is making sure to schedule regular dental checkups<\/a>. In keeping with the recommendation of the American Dental Association, we like to see our patients at least two times a year for a dental cleaning and exam. Seeing you at these regular intervals allows Dr. Hamman, Dr. Johnson and their team of dental hygienists and dental assistants to not only help you have a clean and bright smile, but a healthy one, too.

\nWe trust that you maintain a routine of oral hygiene with twice daily brushing and once-a-day flossing. (And while we\u2019re on the subject, let us remind you to always use a soft toothbrush that has round-tipped bristles and a fluoride toothpaste.) Our in-office cleanings, however, can help you have a more radiant smile. The cleaning instruments we use can remove surface stains from tooth enamel. Moreover, these appointments give us the opportunity to check your teeth for signs of tooth decay and your gums for signs of gingivitis and periodontitis.<\/p>\n

Dental Exams at the Ripon Dentist<\/h2>\n

At each checkup with your Ripon dentist, one of our skilled hygienists will visually examine each one of your teeth looking for visible holes in your teeth, as well as any black, brown or white stains on the surface of your teeth that may indicate a cavity is forming. In addition to this visual examination, we also take routine digital x-rays that show us if decay is forming in hidden spots, such as between two teeth or just below the surface.<\/p>\n

To check for gum disease, we not only look for outward signs such as red and swollen gums, but we also use a periodontal probe to measure the depth of gum pockets around your teeth. If the pocket depth exceeds four millimeters, this can be a sign of gum disease.
